  • „Challenges faced by researchers conducting studies involving children“, Hervör Alma Árnadóttir, Associate Professor, School of Social Work
  • Emphasis on children's participation in studies concerning their lives and conditions has increased in recent decades. Although research results have indicated a general increase in children's participation in studies, the group of children receiving special support from the education and welfare system seems to be excluded and less likely to be invited to participate in studies. The reasons for this appear to, to some extent, lie in the complex process that researchers need to navigate to gain access to this group of children. The presentation will address the challenges that researchers face when working to involve children receiving special welfare support and from the education system in research, and suggest possible ways to overcome these challenges.
